Hi. I would just like to give you a thumbs up for all the chronicling that you've done about the experiences you have endured with your VW. I can comfortably say that I can relate, having driven a VW since grade 7 which I inherited. It gave me all sorts of problems that I had to figure out myself or with a trusted mechanic. Anyway. Fast forward today, our VW is running and looking well thanks to my dad who restored it. I also learned a few tricks from my mechanic. I now do the regular tune-ups and maintenance myself. My dad bought me a book entitled "How to Keep Your Volkwagen Alive" by John Muir. You might want to have this book. Its available at National Book Store as a special order and costs around 2000 bucks if im not mistaken. It helped me a lot.
